New Bowlers
In June and July, join us on Mondays at 6:30pm for beginner bowler sessions! It’s a great way to try us out and learn the basics in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Our volunteer coaches will walk you through the fundamentals of delivery, strategy, and etiquette, so you’ll feel confident stepping onto the green.
Whether you’re brand new to the game or just brushing up, these sessions help you get comfortable quickly and enjoy the sport even more.

(P.S. The first 3 are free! More info below.)
Experienced Bowlers
Stop by Thursday afternoons at 1 pm for “Next Level Coaching”; excellent for bowlers who are NOT new to the game, but want to improve their technique.

Experienced bowlers are also welcome to drop in and use the green during Open Draws. Non-members just need to pay the $10 fee and sign an insurance waiver when you arrive.
NON MEMBER DEAL OF THE SEASON:
We’re so confident you’ll enjoy the game and want to become a member, that the first three coaching sessions are free; no need to pay the drop in fee!
If you want to continue playing after your 3 sessions, become a member or pay $10 to drop in when the club is open (check our calendar for open bowling hours).
Lawn Bowling Etiquette
Good etiquette in lawn bowling goes beyond the rules — it’s about respect, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. Following these simple guidelines helps preserve the tradition of courtesy that has defined bowls for generations.
-
Arrive early; tags in and help set up the green.
-
Wear appropriate clothing and flat-soled shoes.
-
Start and finish the game with a handshake.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is lawn bowling?
Lawn bowling is a social, low-impact outdoor sport played on a green, either grass or artificial. Players roll weighted bowls toward a small target ball called the “jack.” It’s easy to learn, enjoyable at any age, and a great way to be active and social.
Do I need experience to join?
Not at all. We were all beginners when we discovered this great sport. We welcome new players and are happy to provide guidance to help you learn the basics.
Is lawn bowling physically demanding?
Lawn bowling is a low-impact sport suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Games can be played at a relaxed or competitive pace, depending on your preference.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes (no heels or deep tread) to help protect the greens. Clean athletic shoes work well. (In the past, lawn bowlers wore all white clothing, but this is not an expectation at Stanley Park.)
Do I need my own equipment?
No. Bowls and equipment are available free of charge. Members may choose to purchase their own bowls over time, but it’s not required. We do have a small store where members can purchase lawn bowling accessories (like lifters or measures).
What facilities are available at your Club?
Our Clubhouse features accessible washrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ, and bar area, making it ideal for socializing before or after your event. There is also an event room for social gatherings and an indoor locker room to store your personal items (locker rentals are available to members for an additional yearly fee). Outside, we have a heated patio perfect for evenings and cooler days.
